Olympic city, Green City, Lean City, .

Start point at Lean is value. Value for any stakeholder (Customer/worker/ owner/ environment..). Talking about cities, we could talk about citizens, as workers/co-owners that care for the efficiency of their taxes in infrastructures, services and quality of living. In this sense, we look for healthy environment to live in, want good jobs and future.
“Green” seems to be here to stay. The need for an energy shift exists. We can postpone it or ignore it but it makes sense to think that those who participate on its finding and adoption can be leading next generation’s economy.
In this article at BusinessWeek we can see how US cities are dressing-up to welcome cleantech startups and thus, “green jobs”.
Among the attributes they expose are being expansive in plug-in-electric vehicle infrastructure or good venture fund clusters, or having good Universities and Business Schools, initiatives to become low polluters, strong green building norms and so on.
In the article I also found interesting some details as the ISO14001 certification gained by some cities and the creation of a Bureau of Planning & Sustainability looking for economic development and sustainability initiatives.
In Madrid’s 2016 Olympic Proposal I have found an interesting document including three environmental objectives to help us archive our ambitious plans:
1. Madrid 2016: doing more with less
2. Human Environment: «Happy Green Games»
3. Beyond sport: Olympic fund for social integration, biodiversity and sport.
I think this can provide a good momentum for Olympic City, Green City, Lean City.
From this blog we support Madrid 2016!!
